Although the rambutan fruit looks very strange on the outside with it's hair, it is remarkably similar to lychees. Rambutan fruits. The rambutan is very sweet and has a nice amount of juice in it but it is not as flavourful as lychees. They do have a similar taste but the lychee does have a much more potent taste. The gac fruit

The gac fruit looks quite terrible when it is open but there is basically no smell. Some people say there is no taste but there definitely is. To me it has a raw flower/pastry taste mixed with a prune or vaguely like raisins. You can't eat the hard seeds but you have to suck the flesh off the seeds. This fruit does have some nice health benefits. It has a very snotty texture is not very appetizing but worth a try. An unripe gac fruit. We bought an unripe gac fruit and we were delayed to taste it unfortunately since it was very hard still. This one smelled remarkably like cucumbers. The gac fruit is also family or related to the cucumber. A ripe fruit is much softer and more red. A ripe gac fruit. Inside a gac fruit. As you can see it looks very terrible inside and snotty.
